CPC Tour and Brainstorming Event!

Last semester the ALA devoted much of our fundraising efforts to support the small library located at the Western New York Children’s Psychiatric Center. The CPC library is interesting due to its dual role as a school and recreational library that is also housed in a medical setting. If would like to read more about the CPC library, check out this link: http://www.buffalo.edu/news/10732

UB ALA will be conducting a tour of the CPC Library and facilities as well as the possibility of performing some much-needed maintenance since the library receives little funding and cannot afford a library staff. We have also been able to use hours at the CPC towards the Observation & Participation hours for SLMS in the past, however, they would need to be approved by Sue Janzcak.

The tour will be on Thursday, February 18th at 2:30 p.m. The WNY CPC is located at 1010 East & West Road in West Seneca and we are always open to setting up a carpool depending on interest. If you are interested or have any questions please email me at jessicacasamassa at yahoo dot com.

The Hollywood Librarian Showing and Networking Event!

Who has more cardholders than Visa?  Who has more outlets than McDonalds? Who move more items than FedEx?  Why librarians, of course : )

The UB Libraries and the DLIS Graduate Association invite you to the screening of the “Hollywood Librarian” on Saturday, February 20th in Student Union room 330.  The movie will start at 1p but doors will open at 12n.  Light refreshments will be served.  For more information on the film please go to http://www.hollywoodlibrarian.com/
