Month: September 2012
Hello everyone! My name is Bryan Sajecki and I am the new UB Student-ALA Organization President. First and foremost, welcome (back)! I’m sure everyone had a wonderful opportunity to relax over the summer before coming back to our wonderful library world. I know I did, or at least tried to.
I just wanted to create a post with a few updates for anyone who is interested:
- The first ALA meeting will be held on Thursday, September 13th, 2012 @ approximately 5:30 P.M. Keep in mind, all student-run organization meetings will be held on Thursdays this semester, giving all students the opportunity to be as involved as they possibly can be.
- Our focus this semester for the organization will be How to Market Yourself: Creating Your Own Library Job. This will entail a plethora of brainstorming amongst group members, essentially handcrafting a plan on how to embrace the job market after graduation.
- Right now, we are looking for a Webmaster, Treasurer, and potentially a Secretary. Elections will be held after the first meeting this month.
- We have Rochester Liason this semester; Becky Hawes. We hope to work with her to spread the ALA word!
There are also a few new websites to bookmark for UB-LIS information.
LIS Student Organization Facebook – This link will take you to the Student Organization Facebook.
Keep checking this page for more updates and for any new students out there, we will be seeing you in your LIS 505 classes this up coming week. Also, keep checking the UB-MLS List Serv for more information.
Have a wonderful semester!
